My Min Pins’ Favorite Holiday

My girls loved their Easter egg hunts. Maybe because each egg held a treat, and they knew it. After “hiding” eggs around our backyard, I would open the door and cue the girls to “Go get the eggies!” Instructions weren’t necessary, but I enjoyed amping my crew up. And while I never kept score, I think Aspen “found” the most eggs every time.

I hope the Rainbow Bridge has the best eggie hunts ever.

Rocket Dog

Four years ago today, Aspen and I earned our NW3 title in Furlong, PA. It was an achievement we had been working toward for a long time, and I could not have been more proud of my Rocket Dog. Nosework was Aspen’s favorite game. She loved everything about it – training, competing, and the traveling it often required. I’m grateful for the many opportunities we had to enjoy this amazing dog sport. We made memories to last a lifetime.

Saying hello to farm friends on the way to the trial.
Showing off our ribbons! In addition to our overall NW3, we also earned our NW3 Interior and NW3 Vehicle titles. (Masks were mandatory at this trial.)

Wildflower Memorial Garden

December 4th marked the six-month anniversary of Malibu’s journey to the Rainbow Bridge. It was a perfect day to plant wildflower seeds in her honor. I began this tradition in 2021, the year Aspen passed away, and continued it in 2022 for Quest. In each of those years, seeds were scattered during the first week of December, so today was a meaningful day for this project. The garden grows more abundant every year. With the addition of Malibu’s wildflower seeds, I look forward to seeing beautiful blooms in the spring.

Christmas Past

This is my first Christmas in sixteen years without any Min Pins underfoot. I’m sad but trying not to dwell on it. Instead, I’m focusing on gratitude. I know how lucky I am to have had my girls for as long as I did.

December 17th

December 17th is a day I will forever hold close to my heart. For many years, it was a day of pupcakes and presents. Party hats and birthday photo shoots. In 2021, it became a celebration for two. In 2022 and 2023, it was a celebration for one. Today, on their 17th birthday, my girls are celebrating together at the Rainbow Bridge.

Happy Birthday to Aspen, Malibu, and Quest!

2012 – My girls celebrating their 5th birthday.

I’d give anything to reverse time. Life’s not the same without my girls.

TBT Spooky Encounter

Halloween is the spookiest time of year, and I’ve always loved walking around my neighborhood to check out the scary displays. My dogs usually paid no attention to the ghosts, monsters, and other creepy characters that temporarily took residence in front yards along our walking route. But a few years ago, Malibu encountered something that stopped her in her tracks.

My favorite holiday is just weeks away—Halloween! Each year, my costume-wearing dogs happily posed for photos, knowing they would be rewarded with cookies!

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 2024

All four of my beloved dogs now wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge. For them, I hope our time apart is just the blink of any eye. For me, I wish the same thing.
