Spring Is On the Way

Yesterday was a cold, windy day, and Malibu wore three layers for her neighborhood walk.
Today’s temperatures were in the 60’s.

Happy Birthday in Heaven, Twinkie! You were my first dog, and I fell head over heels in love with you. I am so blessed to have had fourteen incredible years with you. Our reunion at the Bridge is going to be epic.

Sweet Sixteen

We celebrated Malibu’s sixteenth birthday this week! I may be impartial, but I don’t think she looks a day over twelve, lol.
Malibu still “checks in” for her cookies.

Today was a beautiful day for a walk in the forest with Malibu. I hope these 70-degree days continue!

Feelin’ Like Summer

Late October weather in New Jersey is usually mild, but temperatures were in the low eighties on Saturday. With it feeling like summer, there was no better place to go than the beach!

Summer with Malibu

As summer winds down and I prepare to return to the classroom, I am left with wonderful memories of the past couple of months. It was a much-improved summer over last year’s when Malibu was sick with IBD. This year, we were able to do all the things Malibu loves. She brimmed with excitement every time I picked up her leash. Sometimes, it was a neighborhood walk, and other times, it was a walk at the church. We also did trick training every day. To Malibu, it’s called “playing games.” She practiced old tricks and learned a new one – leg weaves! Malibu’s not much of a fan of riding in the car, but there were no complaints from her about our trips to McDonald’s. I couldn’t have hoped for a better summer with my buddy. : )

Each day began with a walk. In the
evenings, after it cooled off, we took
another one.
In the afternoons, Malibu enjoyed a frozen
treat – sweet potatoes (baby food) in her
Kong.
This brought a few tears to my eyes –
Malibu playing with her Mad
Scientist puzzle, a puzzle she hadn’t
touched in almost two years.
Malibu’s first taste of french
fries. Her review – two paws up!
