I often took multiple shots of my Min Pin crew before deciding I’d gotten it – the picture I deemed “The One.” In 2019, I had an idea for a Halloween photo, but I needed help capturing the image. For the first time, I wouldn’t be playing the role of photographer.
The lineup was good. I liked Aspen in the center, with Quest and Malibu on opposite sides. But I wanted them closer together. They’re closer – like I wanted. But what happened to the order? And Aspen’s turned a bit too much to the right.I guess the girls didn’t like their positions, so they moved – again! Whatever. Sometimes I had to go with the Min Pin flow. I held my hand up and told them, “Stay.”Aspen, you little stinker! Malibu and Quest remained frozen in place because Mom told them to stay. Aspen was often the first to break a stay, so this didn’t surprise me.The One – the shot I wanted! Later I would wish I’d pulled the pumpkin closer to Quest to close the gap. Also, Quest was a bit too far forward. I drove myself crazy in my pursuit of perfection. Sometimes, it wasn’t attainable – or not worth the price of achieving. It took me a long time to learn that lesson. This photo is good enough. I loved it then, and I love it now.Twinkie – my first Min Pin superhero!
Halloween is the spookiest time of year, and I’ve always loved walking around my neighborhood to check out the scary displays. My dogs usually paid no attention to the ghosts, monsters, and other creepy characters that temporarily took residence in front yards along our walking route. But a few years ago, Malibu encountered something that stopped her in her tracks.
My favorite holiday is just weeks away—Halloween! Each year, my costume-wearing dogs happily posed for photos, knowing they would be rewarded with cookies!
