As summer winds down and I prepare to return to the classroom, I am left with wonderful memories of the past couple of months. It was a much-improved summer over last year’s when Malibu was sick with IBD. This year, we were able to do all the things Malibu loves. She brimmed with excitement every time I picked up her leash. Sometimes, it was a neighborhood walk, and other times, it was a walk at the church. We also did trick training every day. To Malibu, it’s called “playing games.” She practiced old tricks and learned a new one – leg weaves! Malibu’s not much of a fan of riding in the car, but there were no complaints from her about our trips to McDonald’s. I couldn’t have hoped for a better summer with my buddy. : )

Each day began with a walk. In the
evenings, after it cooled off, we took
another one.
In the afternoons, Malibu enjoyed a frozen
treat – sweet potatoes (baby food) in her
Kong.
This brought a few tears to my eyes –
Malibu playing with her Mad
Scientist puzzle, a puzzle she hadn’t
touched in almost two years.
Malibu’s first taste of french
fries. Her review – two paws up!
